Abstract

My capstone aims to bring awareness of resources that should be provided to domestic abuse victims and children, reasons why cycles of abuse continue to happen for multiple generations, and lapses in the current system that is in place now. My goal was to shed light onto this issue and share the perspectives of multiple stakeholders. To recognize the issues that all stakeholders involved in this issue face, we must study the correlation between cycles of abuse, especially among children that have witnessed or were victim to abuse in the past. Then, we will be better able to provide resources to those struggling in the present and/or future. By incorporating emotional intelligence into the presentation, I attempt to show the importance of understanding our emotions and biases towards others, and how to push those ideals aside to promote growth and a sense of belonging into the community.
