The mission of the Boise State University Department of Civil Engineering is to be accomplished through undergraduate teaching, graduate studies and research. These goals will be achieved through a balance of teaching and technical assistance to local and regional industry and government agencies. Our program is characterized by an assessment process for a continuous improvement/feedback process in areas of instruction and learning methods to enhance the benefits of the educational experience. We seek to implement program advancements through continuous improvement of departmental and college facilities. Expansion of our program will provide greater opportunities for graduate educational experiences for students and working professionals in Idaho and surroundings areas. Civil engineering is critical to our modern way of life. It integrates socioeconomic, political, environmental, and technical considerations in the planning, design, and construction of many structures that define our civilization. The Civil Engineering Department at Boise State University will be recognized regionally, nationally, and internationally for its contributions in graduate education, particularly in water resources and environmental areas, and for its collaborative programs and research with other units on campus, universities, governmental agencies and private industry.
