Abstract
Nurse educators always encounter challenges when embracing new teaching methods or technology. This article describes a student's experience dealing with pediophobia, the fear of dolls, when working with VitalSim manikins in the simulation lab. This unexpected student reaction to a simulation manikin presents an opportunity to educate faculty about anxiety and panic disorders, and specifically phobias, that may arise in students working in the simulation lab.
