Abstract

This capstone project addresses the underrepresentation of Education Support Professionals (ESPs) within the Boise Education Association by launching a targeted member recruitment campaign. Sparked by the realization that low membership among classified staff hinders their collective bargaining power, the project seeks to amplify the voices of ESPs by increasing their union participation. The campaign incorporates a multi-faceted approach, including a raffle, an ESP Meet & Greet, and strategic outreach efforts, all designed to raise awareness of the benefits of union membership. Through persistent efforts, the project successfully secured substantial donations from local businesses, surpassing initial fundraising goals. The positive feedback from union leadership and colleagues underscores the campaign’s potential impact. The project not only aims to boost ESP membership but also contributes to a stronger, more inclusive union that can better advocate for the needs of all its members.
