Abstract

Many students feel little to no connection to their communities, even with the proven positive correlation between kids and community ties. Establishing these ties is especially important in vulnerable populations, such as special education. Providing an outlet in schools for students to give back to their community and establish those ties can be highly beneficial. My project Hats for Hope addressed this need and provided said outlet by providing students the opportunity to develop a multitude of skills centered around service mindedness but also ranging to fine motor improvements.
