Abstract

Background: Sports events are one of the most important forms of national fitness activities and promoting its high-quality development is an inevitable requirement to protect the basic sports rights and interests of the people and respond to the need for a higher quality of life. As a pioneer in the fencing industry, Chinese Fencing Association has taken the lead in developing and implementing certification standards for mass fencing events. This study proposed optimization strategies to improve the development environment of mass fencing events through research and analysis of the certification system of mass fencing events in China.

Methods: The author had conducted four-month field research in the Chinese Fencing Association to study in-depth the mass fencing event certification system and its development in China. The author also conducted interviews with more than 30 people, including relevant persons in charge of the Chinese Fencing Association, experts in the field of fencing, and some applicants for mass fencing event certification, to gain a deeper understanding of the basic situation of the system and to collect relevant opinions.

Results: The high-quality development of mass fencing events in China can effectively promote the dissemination and popularization of fencing in China, boost the enthusiasm of the public to participate in fencing, and help to build a "mass fencing rating standard" assessment system. The study found that the system had no clear provisions for the training of event-related staff, the standard of event venues, the evaluation of event innovativeness, and the evaluation of event social value. Therefore, this study concluded that there was a need to further establish the training standards for the staff of event organizations, clarify the specifications of event venues, establish a mechanism for evaluating the innovativeness of events, and improve the mechanism for evaluating the social value of events.

Conclusion: With the accelerated pace of building a healthy China and the accelerated pace of sports standardization in China, higher requirements have been put forward for the development of mass fencing competitions. The Chinese Fencing Association needs to take this opportunity to further improve the certification system of mass fencing events in China by combining the development of mass events in China in order to promote the high-quality development of Chinese fencing competitions and facilitate the sports industry to become a pillar of the national economy.
