Abstract

This presentation outlines my musical composition, "Sanguine Serenade," as well as the influences from my upbringing that shaped the style and techniques employed in this piece. The Poster presentation contains photos of loggers and natural settings from the pacific northwest that helped inspire me when writing the music. In conjunction with the images, the poster also includes questions and descriptions which help guide listeners, who may have little to no experience listening to classical music through the composition. The presentation also explains my natural inclinations when approaching music in contrast with other composers. The presentation concludes with my brief thoughts on the role of music in society.
