Abstract
This project seeks to make mesoporous materials from organo-trialkoxy-silanes, which have applications as highly structured nanoreactors in fabrication highly aligned polymer fibers. To make highly structured mesoporous materials a surfactant is used to facilitate the ordering of the silica through micellar formations. We used several types of non-ionic polymers and quaternary ammonium salts as surfactants. By hydrolyzing tetraorthosilicate in a solution of surfactant we produced different types mesoporous silica. These products were analyzed using X-Ray diffraction to determine pore ordering.
