Abstract
Reviews a body of theory called "andragogy" or teaching theory for adult learners. Focuses on six characterizations of adult students and how they relate to teaching writing: (1) the need to know; (2) the learner's self-concept; (3) the role of experience; (4) readiness to learn; (5) orientation to learning; and (6) motivation.
