Abstract
Postsecondary Rewarding Education is Possible (PREP) Academy is a week-long summer program for students with disabilities ages 14 to 21 to explore college life. Students stay in campus housing, eat in Buster’s kitchen, take classes, investigate career options, and learn about educational resources to support learning in higher education. Support is also provided during the week by mentors who are Boise State students. In this project, three undergraduate students helped a graduate student redesign surveys and other evaluation tools to evaluate the effects of PREP Academy. Specifically, how does PREP Academy help participating students make decisions about how college might fit in their future. Data will be collected in the summer of 2024 and analyzed in the fall of 2024 by the second and fifth collaborators. Pre- and post-survey data from students as well as feedback from parents/guardians, teachers, and vocational rehabilitation counselors will be collected. In addition, data will be collected on mentors’ experiences with providing students support during the week during the summer of 2024 and analyzed in the fall of 2024.
