Abstract

Framework for Increasing Equity Impact in Obesity Prevention aims to research the impact of health education and access on the prevalence of obesity in the American population. The research was conducted in order to propose a solution to the lack of equity in access to resources such as education, healthcare, and healthy food and lifestyle choices. The research conducted found that obesity incidence has increased dramatically, with childhood obesity incidence tripling in the last 30 years. Proposed action includes changes to the American systems of: advertisement, quality education, cost of non-nutritional food groups, funding, and evaluation of school provided lunch programs. The clinical relevance of this research aims to decrease the rates of obesity and cardiovascular disease in the American population, in return producing a healthier population with lower healthcare costs.
