Information
Stress plays a large part of college life. To understand the reasons for stress, this study examined aspects that either decrease or increase the frequency of stress in Psychology 101 students. The study demonstrated that the frequency of stress responses was lower as students actively deal with stressful thoughts. This meant that a negative correlation was found between the Metacognitions Questionnaire - which measured the frequency of stress responses, and the Thought Control Questionnaire - which measured individuals “ways of dealing with stressful thoughts.” A positive correlation was found between the experienced trauma and the frequency of stress responses in students’ lives. The Impact of Events Scale measured frequency of stress responses while the Brief Betrayal Trauma Survey measured the amount traumatic events.
