Abstract
One of the continuing struggles in science and research is the collection of data for the understanding of the diverse environments that surround us. There is a high demand for sensor systems to measure environmental conditions in a wide range of applications. The sensor node achieves hardware flexibility with customizable power supplies, numerous connections for sensors, and multiple communication options. It achieves flexibility in software with a hierarchical, generalized code structure, centralized definitions of commonly used values, and a standardized output format for sensor data. The sensor node has been EMI/EMC tested and is currently being used to measure airliner cabin environmental conditions.
