Abstract

Victoria Lynne Grabowski finds conflict in the quiet relationships that make up Midwestern families. Focusing mainly on the relationship between mother and child, her stories are interspersed with vignettes, narrating this bond chronologically.

You Can Let Her Go Now finds humor in the dark events that make up the domestic landscape. Her work is set in those sometimes overlooked spaces—Costco and Chuck E. Cheese, trailer parks and snow cone stands. She brings her characters to points of desperation, and then attempts to find the beauty in their disintegration.
