Abstract
The first 20 chapters of a novel focused around American crime fiction and realism traditions rooted in the works of such authors as Raymond Chandler, James M. Cain, Donald E. Westlake, et al. Tells the story of young ex-con Robbie Kretsch upon being released from prison after serving a two year sentence for Grand Theft Auto and his attempts to the reassimilate back into the family neighborhood in New Orleans, LA, as his former boss pressures him to return to committing auto theft for profit. Told in progressive first-person in an attempt to evoke an of-the-moment feeling while remaining true to the traditions of first-person narrative within crime fiction, noir-fiction particularly.
