Abstract
Syrinx is a collection of poems addressing one speaker’s experience with chronic illness and pain, and her identification with the disabled community. The manuscript articulates the pressure to uphold societal norms while combating disability stigmas. The poems investigate the grieving of one’s own body as it fails the mind, and the constant struggle to maintain relationships with others.
