Summary & Purpose

Picoindentation Files: Each folder in this section of data is for a single picoindentation sample with its related files. Generally, for each sample indentation, a video of the indentation, a .txt file with the collected load-displacement data, and a copy of the original .hys file is included. Where samples have multiples of the .hys files, multiple indentations were made on the same sample. These are labeled sequentially.

A final excel sheet summarizes all the Fe++ 3 dpa 500 C pillar data and calculates the stress-strain curves from the .txt load-displacement files included in each individual sample folder.

These files are all of the Fe++ 3 dpa 500C ODS micro-pillars. Videos, text files, and .hys files are collected using the Hysitron Picoindentation software.

Collecting both video and load-displacement data allows for a quantitative and qualitative analysis.

FIB Images: These files are all focused ion beam (FIB) images of the Fe++ 3 dpa 500C ODS micro-pillars milling process. Images are collected using FEI Quanta 3D FEG focused ion beam (FIB) at a variety of magnifications and steps in the milling process. Images are taken to show the milling steps needed to produce transmission electron microscopy (TEM) picoindentation samples.

Data Attributes

Picoindentation Files : Fe++ irradiation conducted at Michigan Ion Beam Laboratory. TEM picoindentation samples were prepared using an FEI Quanta 3D FEG focused ion beam (FIB) at the Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES). Samples were cut and lifted perpendicular to the surface of the bulk sample. This orientation allowed for each sample to be made from the damaged layer. Prior to milling, all specimen surfaces were protected with a 1 μ platinum deposit. Each sample was milled from the same liftout. The liftout had dimensions of ~40 μ wide, 3 μ thick, and ~13 μ tall. Picoindentation samples were milled into this liftout at a variety of dimensions. Picoindentation was run in displacement controlled mode. Initial samples were taken to a variety of displacements. As the users began to be more familiar with the process, displacement depths were held at half the pillar height. Video viles were compressed using MJPEG compression. They were taken at 30 fps and with an exposure of 0.15 s on the TEM. FIB Images: Irradiation conducted at the Michigan Ion Beam Laboratory.
