Abstract

Virtual reality is a three-dimensional, computer generated environment where a human being communicates with the virtual world to perform certain actions. Presently, virtual reality is becoming useful for training physicians through visual simulation technology. Virtual reality is providing a risk-free environment to practice lifesaving procedures for physicians. Healthcare professionals are receiving far more immersive and realistic experiences from virtual reality than from conventional papers and videos. I summarize how virtual reality is being used in various domains and particularly in healthcare. I also present my recommendations on how virtual reality can be used to further improve the healthcare scenario.
