Presentation Date

7-2015

Abstract

A qualitative analysis of College of Western Idaho psychology students service-learning at West Ada schools was conducted to identify themes that describe the students’ experiences and relate findings to service-learning literature. Four major themes were identified: diversity exposure, teaching experiences, challenges and communication, and engaged learning. Overall, this analysis suggests that, consistent with previous literature, students participating enjoyed their psychology course and developed a richer understanding of the concepts taught as the result of their service experience.
