Abstract
A particular kind of spatiotemporal pattern is made up of simple digital spikes which occur in time from multiple neurons. One way to detect these patterns is by training a spiking neural network. However, the exact mechanisms through which spatiotemporal pattern detection behavior arises from the equations of spiking neural networks is not well understood. The goal of this research is to gain insight into this process and, ultimately, derive answers to some fundamental questions concerning spiking neural networks.
