Abstract
When deciding on a location for their firms, firm owners often consider that locating close to downtown will prove most profitable for their business, but is that always true? Our research will examine which economic factors contribute to the success of a business. We will analyze how the choice of location affects the economic return on investment for businesses in the Boise/Nampa metro area. This research will cover two important issues. First, we will discuss the importance of population data with respect to making future demographic and business projections. Second, we will discuss how amenities such as schools, availability of other public goods and services impact firm location choice. Understanding the impact of these variables will help prospective entrepreneurs when deciding on a new business location.
