Artist Statement
Sub Urban is urban substandard, a visual study on manmade intrusions into the natural world and the slow yet eventual process of nature’s reclamation.
Sub Urban is finding beauty in the banal, seeing the decorative in the dismal, like fake clouds or acid rain.
Sub Urban is a collection of altered landscape photographs from a long term, ongoing project. Images are paired formally into diptychs and grouped into rows; they coexist and contrast with one another, just as they do in their original settings.
