Artist Statement
The overarching theme of these paintings consists of interpretations of the western zodiac.
Each painting's subject consists of a female with traits or objects that relate to the zodiac they represent. Some images have obvious ties to their constellation counterparts while others have a more obscure connection.
Capricorn, Cancer, Libra, Taurus and Gemini have been completed thus far. There is no reason for their completion order. Each piece is crafted using a watercolor underlayer followed by dozens of layers of washi tape pieces. Then after that another layer of watercolor and acrylic paint are added.
The final goal for this series will be an art zine with each member of the zodiac illustrated in similar ways.
