Artist Statement
The Horned God in his various forms represents nature, hunting, sexuality, and the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. He is the counterpart to the Triple Goddess in Pagan belief systems.
The Horned God is the deity that I hold most dear. In his cycle of life, death, and rebirth; I believe he represents our ability to reinvent ourselves and to transform our objects and surroundings. He is our ability to take something old and make something new out of it. Just as he himself is rediscovered and reinterpreted by each generation of Pagans and sect of Paganism.
I have used primarily reclaimed materials to emphasize this aspect of him. Those materials include the copper wire in the horns, the wood in the pedestal, and the furs. He is represented at life size, so that we can be face to face with him and understand him on our own level and from our own points of view.
