Abstract
This project serves teachers who guide early childhood students’ (ages 5-6 years old) in daily reading instruction. The literacy center manual allows all educators to use the information they need to posses a hands-on approach to reading. The manual has sample activities, blackline masters, and resources for further discovery into literacy centers. Broken up into the three quarters of a school year (fall, winter, and spring), the manual includes specific activity areas: writing, listening, reading, whole group instruction (mini-lessons), hands-on language, art, and dramatic play. Each area has specific lessons designed to meet the objectives set aside in the reading curriculum.
