Abstract
Our presentation is part of a larger study exploring how Artificial Intelligence (AI) affects people's perceptions and behaviors. We examined how age, gender, education, and income influence people’s attitudes towards AI. We collected survey data from a diverse sample of 201 respondents. Our sample consisted of 63 males and 130 females ranging from 18-65+ in age, across varying levels of income and education. Our research findings suggest that women tend to worry more about becoming too dependent on AI compared to males, people under the age of 36 are less worried about losing their jobs to AI compared to those 36 and above. In addition, people over 36 are more likely to believe that AI will help them be more productive at work compared to younger respondents. These findings suggest that demographic differences exert over how people perceive the risks and benefits of AI. Additional analysis is still in progress.
