Abstract
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is a phenomenon that impacts a significantly large population, ranging in severity. TBI is commonly seen in sports, and recent research efforts have been made to explore head and spine injury in mountain biking and alpine sports. This research aims to find the prevalence of TBI in these fields while looking specifically at symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, demographic differences, and prevention methods. Research and data was collected through secondary research and community outreach with the goal of understanding the different dynamics of TBI and the experiences that people have with them. Literature pertaining to the research focus presents varying statistics and perspectives on TBI, how it impacts individuals circumstantially, and how to approach TBI in medical fields. Education and awareness surrounding head and brain injuries is crucial in developing preventative and treatment-centered efforts to mitigate the impacts of concussions and other TBIs.
