Abstract
Our research explores how people perceive AI-generated media and/or AI-assisted media. We specifically examine consumer attitudes related to consumption, concern, detection, disclosure, and acceptance of AI generated media/AI assisted media. We collected survey data from a broad cross-section of 195 consumers. Upon reviewing the data, most people can not [sic] detect the use of AI in their media. There is proof of concern and a demand for disclosure.
A preliminary analysis of our data shows that a majority of the respondents' do not have a lot of confidence that AI will improve the quality of media. This implies that even though respondents may interact with and/or have some form of awareness of AI, they still have doubts regarding the overall benefit of the use of AI. This statement also directly aligns with our research initiative of determining the attitudes of individuals toward AI, particularly in the way that they view AI as a positive or negative factor. Additional analysis is in progress.
