Abstract

Burnout among healthcare professionals has rapidly increased over the past five years, making it an urgent concern for healthcare systems worldwide. This issue significantly affects both the quality of patient care and the well-being of healthcare providers. Burnout is commonly characterized by emotional exhaustion, prolonged stress, and an inability to meet ongoing workplace demands. Healthcare continues to rank among the professions most affected by burnout each year. Recognizing the causes and impacts of burnout is essential in addressing its growing prevalence. This study aims to examine how and why burnout occurs in healthcare settings, the consequences it has on both providers and patients, and potential policies that may help reduce its occurrence. Data will be gathered from peer-reviewed journals, scholarly healthcare articles, and insights from healthcare professionals who encounter burnout in their daily work environments. The research is expected to highlight the effects of excessive workloads, workplace stressors, and emotional strain on healthcare workers. Ultimately, this study emphasizes the need for increased recognition, open discussion, and effective interventions to better support healthcare professionals and promote a healthier, more sustainable healthcare system.
