Abstract

Our research explores the differences between the perception and usage of AI. We collected survey data from 271 men and women between the ages of 18 and 26. Our results reveal a clear difference in how genders perceive and interact with AI. Women, in general, are more concerned about AI undermining their creativity and critical thinking. Men are more confident adopters, viewing AI as an inspirational tool, trusting the information, and viewing it as more ethical. These differing levels of trust and perceived risk suggest that perceptions of AI are not a uniform experience but one shaped significantly by gendered attitudes toward reliance and technology. The results indicate that while AI is widely adopted for its immediate benefits, women are skeptics and men are adopters. Additional analysis is in progress.
