Abstract
I studied how Bogus Basin ski resort in Idaho can become better for the environment while still making money and serving more people in the community. My research looked at how the resort affects the environment, especially its water and energy use, and its reliance on diesel fuel.
The research shows that the resort uses 75,000 gallons of diesel fuel each year. Switching to cleaner renewable diesel could cut pollution by 60%. Using waterpower and other clean energy sources would also help protect the environment. The resort is important for the local economy, bringing tourists and creating jobs. Making the resort more environmentally friendly could save money and attract more visitors who care about the environment.
I found that many people can't visit the resort because passes are too expensive or it's difficult to get there. To fix this, suggesting making passes cheaper and adding more bus services might help. I also found that creating more educational programs and ways for the community to get involved would generate more visits.
Overall, this research shows that Bogus Basin is aiming to focus on using cleaner energy, improving its business, and making the resort more accessible to everyone. Which is important for the resort's environment and future success.
