Abstract
Mental health challenges among college students, such as increasing rates of anxiety, depression, and stress, have become a growing concern, impacting both academic performance and overall well-being. While various factors contribute to mental health outcomes, social support networks may play a significant role in shaping student resilience and coping mechanisms. In our research, we aim to explore how social support networks influence the mental health of college students and identify key factors which contribute to stronger support systems. Using a mixed-methods approach, we plan to review existing literature, analyze published data, and more to better understand the connection between social connections and mental well-being. We hope to find how students with more robust support networks experience lower stress levels, greater emotional resilience, and overall improved mental health. By identifying the most effective types of support systems, our research will contribute to ongoing discussions about student well-being. Ultimately, we aim to highlight the importance of strengthening social support networks as a proactive measure to help mitigate mental health challenges among college students.
