Abstract
The overarching goal of Brain Health with Virtual Reality (VR) is to combine VR and scent to detect Alzheimer's disease (AD) earlier, providing a better quality of life to those affected. A major barrier to achieving our goal, though, is lack of understanding regarding the origins of AD, its connection with loss of smell, and barriers to diagnosis and care. Our team creates educational resources for patients, their loved ones, their care providers, and potential community collaborators. We made educational materials like brochures that explain environmental impacts on likelihood to develop AD, a promotional video that describes our project in detail, and custom stickers for raising awareness. Our efforts are critical for successfully implementing our scent-delivery device as an early detector for AD. This poster will help the audience gain understanding.
