Abstract

As many communities in Idaho experience large population growths and an increase in urban infrastructure, one negative consequence often gets left out of the conversation. Light pollution has many damaging effects on humans and wildlife alike. As Twin Falls County grows, light pollution solutions should be enacted to help keep the night sky dark.

With a focus on actionable social strategies, economic impacts, and code amendments, this poster presents the effects of light pollution and its solutions for Twin Falls County, Idaho. In order to increase the utility of implementing these solutions, an informational campaign is included. This also covers the costs and benefits of working to combat light pollution, with monetary values. Building and other statutory code amendments needed to enact these potential solutions are included as well.
