Abstract

With the growing number of individuals who choose to live childfree many researchers are looking for evolutionary explanations for this. Childfree individuals are those who have made a voluntary decision to not reproduce. This research examines the child-parent relationship and how it might affect the future reproductive decisions of the child. Participants include female and male individuals between the ages of 24 to 45 (peak reproductive years) to complete an online survey detailing these factors. Results from this study will show whether there is an association between an individual’s relationship with their own parents in childhood and their current child-rearing decisions.
