Abstract
How did poetry evolve during the age of American Realism? Specifically how did it change for female poets? How did their past influence them? Were similar topics covered? I will examine multiple poets, look briefly into their histories and draw focus to some of their works. I want to see how the styles and subject matter change over time, and how it varies person to person. I selected a variety of female poets. One is Canadian, one is African American, and there is even a Native American Poet.
