Txalupa

Welcome! Ongi Etorri!

Txalupa* is an online journal that publishes undergraduate/graduate student and non-academic contributions to the study of the Basques.

It is the “sister” journal to BOGA, the professional Basque Studies Consortium Journal, a multi-disciplinary, peer-reviewed, open access online journal that publishes the work of professional scholars at the PhD level. “Boga” means “rowing” in Basque.

Both Basque journals have adopted the concept of “rowing together” toward common goals. Symbolically, Txalupa is the smaller rowboat to the mighty Basque rowing boat, the trainera, that competes in regattas (estropadak). Both Txalupa and BOGA represent the ideal of working together to support, encourage, and inspire learning about the Basques.

*Txalupa is pronounced “CHAH-loo-pah”
*BOGA is pronounced “BOH-gah”
