Abstract

Caller Wightman is a highly successful surgeon whose whole life revolves around his work. When he gets a call alerting him that his father has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, he returns home, only to find that his father is refusing medical treatment. In order to convince his father to get the operation that might save him, Caller agrees to help track down a legendary deer that nobody except his father believes to exist. In that quest, Caller will be forced to confront the memory of the childhood trauma that set him on a course to become a perfect surgeon and a failed human being.
