Abstract

By doing this project I would be helping many people in the community. I plan to do a foodbank outside of my workplace for our families and for the community. There are many families that are struggling because they aren’t able to afford food or other supplies for their family, this will help them ease some of their needs. I am getting volunteers and other agencies to help with this project because I won’t be able to do it all by myself. There are many people and organizations that want to help others out and I will be reaching out to as many organizations that I can. When the end of spring or beginning of summer starts there are people that are willing to donate fresh fruits and vegetables. People can donate food, items and different things for the foodbank. I will also have the stakeholders bring in ideas on how we can make the project be successful. There are many things we can do to help the community in our neighborhood. I went to our foodbank in Meridian, talked to the period project here in Boise, talked to the parents at center and I also received a call from the Rotary club that they wanted to help in putting a lending library together with the foodbank. There are many people that want to help with this project. I am going to put everything together in the next couple of weeks and we will be starting the foodbank. We will be doing it twice a week because the food bank in Meridian will be giving us the food twice a week. I want to build healthier food inventory, enhance partner agency access, storage, and distribution capacity for fresh foods, and expand community partnerships. These are all key components for healthy food initiatives.

This Project was done for my BAS 495 class. I started a food bank at my work for the people that are low-income and are struggling with food and other supplies.
