Abstract

Real-Time Conversational Framework (ReTiCo) is a python framework that implements a message-passage architecture with the goal of making human-robot and other human-AI interactions more natural. Rather than having AI process data in a “turn based” manner, we want AI to have process information more incrementally. As this is a framework that already exists, but we have spent our time by contributing to it and creating or improving many different modules. One such module uses a duplex-model, designed by a PhD student, which we have been trying to connect with the robots such as Misty and K1 Booster to test and compare how human-like the model is. Creating these modules have come with many challenges, such as hardware limitation, requiring a powerful GPU to run some modules, and limited documentation on outdated modules making it difficult to use in new modules. Overall, ReTico is capable of completely changing how we think of AI and while also overcoming a major limitation that exists in large language models.
