Abstract
My research this semester has been focused on using materials considered detritus or refuse and repurposing them to create a work of art that is beautiful, compelling and intriguing. I am interested in showing the undercurrents of relationships in my works that are narrative, spectral and ephemeral. I use discarded diadems alongside handmade objects made of fiber, burned out porcelain and glass to show fragility, and the transient. My work is underscored with themes of abandonment, loss and grief with an element of rebirth and transformational themes.
