Abstract

This work addresses body language as a secondary conversation and the influence that gender has on that conversation. This work identifies the deep cognitive structures of gender that direct society’s interpretation of the world. Methods used to demonstrate these ideas are achieved through androgynous-prepubescent imagery, and gendered objects. Although gender is a social construction independent of one’s sex category, it influences the attitudes that one has towards an individual. It is these attitudes that this work brings into the foreground to illustrate how gender can function by guiding the viewer to take notice of their own attitudes.
