In honor of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C. organized a national tour bringing a first edition (1623) of Shakespeare’s compiled works—the First Folio— to all 50 states throughout 2016. Based on an application initiated by Albertsons Library and in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Institute, Boise State was selected as Idaho’s host site for the exhibition from August 20th -September 21st. In addition to cooperation among more than 30 campus departments and units, the exhibit’s success was made possible by collaboration with 12 community organizations and hundreds of individuals on campus and throughout the region. Nearly 10,000 people attended Boise State’s exhibit and associated programs celebrating the First Folio’s historic first visit to Idaho.
