Emily Blauer, Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Foundational Studies, Boise State University

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to find the ways that instruction based in centers influences learning. Centers involve students working in small groups that includes self exploration and student directed activities that have been planned in advance by the teacher. The concluding data, found by surveying/interviewing teachers and observing students, will help this researcher determine what kindergarten teachers understand about centers, how they structure and utilize them, and perceptions of how centers influence learning.
