Abstract

The purpose of this research project is to investigate ways to reduce traffic traveling to and from the Boise State University main campus. We have examined the parking and transportation situation in hopes of reducing emissions on campus as commuting is the largest source. Also, as the university continues to expand in enrollment and area, we have searched for ways to accommodate these concerns heading into the future.

Concerns over the parking situation were acknowledged in feedback from the student response survey. Alternative forms of transportation, expanded bus loops, and potential parking infrastructures were researched as well.

It appears that there are several conflicts between short-term social costs and long-term demands. It is most likely current parking and transportation policies are sufficient in addressing the increasing demands.
