Abstract
In the fast paced world of digital hardware design, it is possible to use a software design methodology to develop hardware. This thesis will present the Waterfall Model with Feedback along with software object oriented design methods to aid in the creation of verifiable, flexible, robust, and timing critical hardware. Software tools used in the creation of a hardware design along with a hardware design flow that explains the use of these tools will be presented. As reinforcement to the value of this design methodology, an Algorithmic Pattern Generator (APG) was created using the software toolset flow. The results of the Algorithmic Pattern Generator design show the benefit of using this design methodology.
