HR Manager Comparisons of Mobile Versus Wired Technologies
Communication outside the workplace remains a major factor in the work environment. For example, the Society for Human Resource Management's 2006 Employee Benefits Survey found that 26% of human resource professionals believed their organization provided telecommuting for at least part of the week (Gurchiek, 2006). According to Processor (2004), in 2007, there should be more than 60 million telecommuters working mainly at home. Other telecommuters include frequent travelers such as salespersons, executives, and day extenders who work at the office but want to extend their work day at home. These telecommuters are increasingly using mobile communications to do their work.
