Abstract

The goal of this project is to reduce the amount of waste produced at Boise State University home football games. There is a need for this project because football is a major platform for Boise State and football games have a large role in the community. One football game can produce 7 to 8 tons of waste, a large of portion of which can be recycled. This research project is part of the Green Game Recycling competition, a national recycling program with over 100 participating universities, which aims to reduce waste from university home football games. During each game our group worked with volunteers to provide tailgaters with designated recycling bags and information on what to recycle. We believe that this project will inspire social change and have a positive impact on our community and our local environment.
