Abstract

In July, 2008, Boise State University's Archaeological Field School mapped and inventoried the Vardis Fisher property located in Hagerman, Idaho. The property, which is now part of the Billingsley Creek State Park, was homesteaded by Fisher in the 1930s. The residence, which was abandoned after his death in 1968, subsequently burned. Subsequently, many of the remaining structures have deteriorated, and numerous items have been destroyed and scavenged in recent years. The purpose of our survey was to create plan maps of the locations of the original structures, to photographically document the site area, and to inventory the remaining associated historic artifacts. This report provides a brief overview of Vardis Fisher's career, describes our methods of data recording, and provides graphic documentation of the site area.
