Artist's Statement
A face talks to me even when a person is silent. I paint portraits to explore the individual characteristics of my subjects.
My paintings are realistic and expressive. Many works are larger than life-size. Subjects are frequently in the performing arts, but I also find satisfaction in depicting a special moment or someone in quiet reflection. My goal is to capture the essence of a subject which may be at the height of an expressive flourish on stage, or a moment of quiet thought. Through these portraits, I invite a viewer to discover and reflect upon my subjects personality traits, behaviors and tendencies in their defining moments.
